Our 3-Day Mount Toubkal Trek leads us to discover lunar landscapes, through tiny villages clinging to the mountainside, lined with walnut trees, apple trees, and terraced fields, where only passes allow us to pass from one valley or village to another. This carefully designed expedition takes you through the heart of the High Atlas Mountains, combining challenging trekking with authentic cultural experiences.

Detailed Itinerary – 3 Days

Early in the morning, a short transfer to Imlil where we meet our muleteer(s). We begin our hike with a beautiful climb to the village of Aremd, terraced crops, irrigation canals, then through the marabout of Sidi Chamharouch, to reach the Toubkal Refuge at 3100m. A 5-hour walk. Overnight in a refuge.
Toubkal Refuge (3100m) − Ascent of Toubkal (4167m) − Return to the Refuge
The ascent of North Africa's highest peak is without major difficulty. Depart as early as possible to take advantage of the cool morning air. From the summit of Toubkal (4167m), the view is far-reaching, with views of the Siroua massif and the Marrakech plains.
Descent and return. Tea and lunch at the refuge, free afternoon. 3 hours for the ascent. 2.5 hours for the descent.
Toubkal Refuge − Imlil − Marrakech
After breakfast, we descend gently along the same mule track to the marabout of Sidi Chemharouch (2250m), a venerated saint renowned for healing spiritual illnesses (King of the Devils). Lunch is served at Imlil (1750m). 4 hours of descent, then around 1 p.m., return to Marrakech. Duration: 4 hours of walking / 1.5 hours of driving.

The 3-Day Mount Toubkal Trek offers better acclimatization with an extra night at the refuge, making the summit day more comfortable and increasing your chances of success. It also allows for a more relaxed pace, giving you time to enjoy the scenery and cultural experiences. The additional day helps your body adjust to the altitude, reducing the risk of altitude sickness.
You'll spend two nights at the Toubkal Refuge located at 3,100 meters altitude. The refuge provides dormitory-style accommodation with basic facilities including beds, blankets, and shared bathroom facilities. Before and after the trek, you'll stay in comfortable hotels or riads in Marrakech.
Physical preparation is essential for the Mount Toubkal Trek. We recommend regular cardio exercise (running, cycling, hiking) for at least 2-3 months before your trek. Bring sturdy hiking boots, warm layers (temperatures can drop below freezing at the refuge), waterproof jacket, headlamp, and personal medications.
